DOB: 13/10/68
Age: 44
Height: 168cm
Weight: 57kg
Profession: Hairdresser
Athletic History:

Michelle (Philip’s wife) grew up in Cronulla and Kangaroo Valley, and excelled in track athletics, cross-country running and hockey. Later she developed an interest in long distance running and competed in ultra marathon events.

She first visited LHI in 1998, spent a year working at Capella Lodge and has since shared Philip’s passion for triathlon and mountain running. She’s now completed many marathons, City to Surfs and triathlons (including Hawaii Ironman in 2007). Michelle was also a participant in the LHI “Peak to Peak” event in May, 2002, and is credited with the female record of 5hrs 12min 17secs.

She has climbed Mt Gower 35 times (unofficially recording personal best of 2hrs 34min), and recently scaled Mt Lidgbird under the guidance of island bush guru, Dean Hiscox.

Michelle maintains her fitness with 50-60kms/week running, regular road cycling and will be keeping a close watch on Philip’s training diary, replicating the tough hill reps he runs on Browns Mountain in Cambewarra, NSW.

“Footwork, balance and a crazy form of courage is the key to the downhill leg of the challenge, and I’ll be getting to love the coffee grinder in the gym to build arm strength for hauling myself up the get up place on those gnarly ropes. This mountain is brutally inconsiderate to acrophobiacs!”

Interests:

Gardening, growing her own vegetables and living a healthy life.
