OLLIE WHiSTLER

DOB: 19/12/87
Age: 25
Height: 189cm
Weight: 78kg
Profession: Professional Triathlete and retail manager
Athletic History:

Ollie (Philip’s son) attended primary school in Cambewarra, but got to know and love the island during vacations, and also developed a passion for the mountain and hill hikes (when sea conditions were unsuitable for fishing!).

After engaging in athletics, football, swimming and cricket during his 6 years at the Kings School, Parramatta, he “dabbled” in Ironman Triathlon and within a brief period he’d competed in several events, culminating in winning the 18-24yr age group division of the Australian Ironman Championships (Port Macquarie 2008). At the time, he dedicated this milestone victory to his recently deceased grandfather, Jim Whistler, and resolved to obtain a licence to race professionally. He competes mainly in the Ironman 70.3 events (half ironman distance), but anticipates stepping up to Ironman in the future.

His major wins including Canberra 70.3 and Yeppoon 70.3, and a 5th place in the European 70.3 Championships in Germany, 2010, gives him a well established professional racing career. He also qualified for and competed in Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas, 2012.

Ollie is hopeful that with his substantial, multidiscipline fitness and endurance mix (and hopefully his DNA coding), there is a suitable platform for breaking the existing record.

A detailed documentation of his racing history and results can be found on his professional website (below).
